Congrats to Teneka for being the "BOA" of the month, I think Betty made a wise choice.

Quilters Above the Clouds
August 26, 2011
Woodland Park Library
For our August meeting, we had a potluck with lots of delicious food. We sat at tables and enjoyed our lunch during the meeting.
It was announced that the Quiltzillas meeting would be held on September 9Th. Quiltzillas were asked to bring $10 for lunch at the Molly Kathleen Mine.
Barb O. shared a thank you note from the children at the safe house. She asked for help with Christmas animals and animals in general. Watch for items that can go into stockings for the children and their mothers.
A motion to cancel the advocacy meeting on the 4Th Thursday was made and passed unanimously.
Cindy D. brought fabric, patterns, buttons and all sorts of notions that had belonged to her friend, Gilda. They were on sale at the meeting to help Gilda’s husband.
Andrea K. had four quilters at her retreat. They had a wonderful time, with terrific food and inspiring views. She kindly donated $10 for each quilter to our guild. Thanks, Andrea!
Cindy D. reported that she put $1300 back into the bank after the quilt show, with a profit of $940. Nancy Davis won both the Viewers’ Choice and the Quilters’ Choice awards. Honorable mentions went to Andrea K., Joan S., and Chris F. Congratulations to all of these talented quilters!
Susie showed the picture of the quilt that was lost by Quilters’ Newsletter, a Colorado publication. Be on the lookout for this beautiful quilt!!
The Food for Thought Challenge quilts were unveiled. What creative people we have in our guild!! There were approximately 10 entries. Each one was unique and gave us something to think about. They will be on display at Park State Bank in the upstairs gallery. We will also display winners from the quilt show.
Our program was presented by Kathy H. and Linda S. They told us about their trip to Bali, where they observed the complex process that produces the beautiful batiks we buy in our favorite quilt stores. They also talked about the culture of the people who live there. They were able to create their own fabrics using stamps and dye- they report it’s not as easy as it looks!
Betty K. recognized Teneka Potter-Sansom as the Best-Over-Achiever for all her work on programs this year! Way to go, Teneka!!!
We ended the meeting with Show and Tell. As usual, so much fun to see wonderful quilts!!
