The 5th Annual QAC quilt show was a delightful success. As usual, there was an abundance of gorgeous quilts!

QAC members go to the Teller County fair

Crazy quilting at the Cutis Ranch

Saturday, May 28th, Nell, Teneka, Barb and I went to the Curtis Ranch to promote the guild and demo crazy quilting techniques. Teneka worked on her "Hawaiian quilt" using needle turn, Barb did embroidery stitches on a crazy quilt block, Nell was couching trims on a block's seams and I was practising ribbon embroidery on a piece of cotton lawn in a hoop. We had several people come by to ask questions and "ooh and ahh" over the crazy quilt we had displayed on the fence. "Santa" even came by and and visited and told us about his 90 year old mother who is a quilter in Pennsylvania. Nell got contact info and we may get to see him and pictures of his mom and some of her quilts at guild this sumer/fall or next year.

Cindy DeMore was recently feature in an article by Pat Hill in the Courier View's Extra & Livfe -- "Teller Life" published on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010. Additionally Cindy was interviewed **live** on Tellernetcast.com on Jan. 28. This interview is available on the Teller Life archives at

In both the interview and the print article Cindy discussed the Guild's activities in assisting Teller County children in time of trauma.

Guild President Accepts Award

President Susie O'Connor recently accepted the Teller County "Build a Generation" Award for the Quilters Above the Clouds Guild. The award was given to the Advocacy Quilting arm of the Guild for the volunteer work done on behalf of the children of Teller County. It was presented by Kim Mauthe at a ceremony in Cripple Creek on January 14, 2010. Former President Cindy DeMore submitted this photo.
